What is DMAE?

DMAE is an abbreviated term for an antioxidant membrane stabilizer called dimethylaminoethanol. This organic compound is naturally occurring in the body and is a strong antioxidant. By its self it is highly alkaline, but when mixed with tartaric acid it becomes safe for use in skincare products. This new form is called DMAE Bitartrate and is the product used in our DMAE serums.

In nature, DMAE is found in high concentrations in fish oil, but at Beauty of Science 101 we only manufacture vegan products, so our DMAE Bitartrate is produced in a lab. The molecules are identical to those in nature and are much more sustainable within skincare products. DMAE Bitartrate strengthens skin cells and their membranes. This cellular reinforcement provides protection against damaging free-radicals that bombard our skin daily, causing the many signs of aging.

This SUPER antioxidant tightens skin, improves firmness and elasticity, reduces sagging, promotes the production of collagen, smooths wrinkles, and brightens skin tone.
